Concerned about your online privacy?
Spyware protection should be an essential part of your security to defend your privacy and computing habits from prying eyes and virtual trespassers.
What is Spyware and Adware?
Spyware (aka Adware) is software made by publishers that allow them to snoop on your browsing activity, invade your privacy, and flood you with those horrible pop-ups.
If you are like most users on the internet, chances are you are probably infected with these applications.
Spyware is commonly bundled with software downloads, attached to e-mails, or transmitted through networks so it can appear to be legitimate software, but once installed it can be nearly impossible to detect and remove without assistance.
Some signs that your computer may be infected with Spyware or Adware viruses may include:
1. Pop-up windows
2. Frequent computer lock-ups or crashes
3. Strange hard drive/modem behavior
4. Unusually slow computer and/or internet connection
Even if you notice none of these signs, Spyware is probably present on your system. The US National Cyber Security Alliance estimates that 91 percent of all PCs are infected with Spyware. It often sits idle on your machine, waiting for a preset time to strike.
When you consider the amount of valuable personal and business information stored on your PC, including credit card and banking details, personal e-mails and documents, shopping and browsing habits, the risks of having software intruders become obvious.
Known consequences of Spyware and Adware include identity theft, computer problems, slow Internet access, changed homepage and favorites, and excessive numbers of Adware generated adverts.
Anti-virus software and firewalls alone do not fully protect your system against the majority of Spyware and privacy threats.
ATi is committed to helping you keep your computers clean of the kinds of annoyances, errors and issues that Spyware and Adware can cause.
